It’s that time of the year again. December and the joy of Christmas. Merry Christmas my dear friends! May the magic of Christmas gladden your heart with the joys of the season. May the spirit of Christmas bless you with greater strength. May the promise of Christmas bring you endless blessings for years to come. May sunshine accompany you, may all your sorrows pass, may happiness spring in your life, may peace and prosperity accompany you always my dear.
The Christmas trees on the road, in the shopping malls, restaurants and everywhere one probably went, decorated with prettiest of reindeers, stars, things shiny and cute, the elaborately wrapped gifts under the trees, the stars on the top.
The lights in the windows, decorations everywhere, though no snow in Singapore but still lots of make believe wonderlands complete with falling snow.
Best of all the greeting of “Merry Christmas”! Signs and greeting wherever I go!
Christmas starts really early in Singapore, that is the decorations come up around mid November.
The surprising fact is that the holiday decorations in Singapore are different every year. No dusting off last year’s Christmas ornaments here, different themes, colors and styles to spread the joy of Christmas. I have seen some very impressive stuff over the last two years. This year has been no exception.
The most impressive displays are at the famous shopping belt on Orchard Road. The road transforms every Christmas into a dazzling winter wonderland of stars and diamonds. The elaborate decorations leaves no doubt that this is the season to be jolly.
This year, blue origami deer fill the sky over Orchard Road. Inspired by celebratory elements of confetti and light rays, the trees, overhangs and sidewalks are adorned with glowing reindeer and sparkling stars.
Beautiful displays of glowing reindeer and shimmering stars take center-stage on arches, overhangs, trees and sidewalks, enchanting and inviting to the magic of the season.
Magical lighting with some snow globes and some candy lands make this place a Fairyland for adults and kids at this time of the year.
The Muslim view on Birth of Jesus Christ (may peace be upon him)
Our holy book the Quran clearly mentions Jesus Christ as one of the great messengers of Allah swt (God). His miraculous birth is also clearly narrated. So is his wonderful and merciful disposition as a saviour of mankind. It also talks of his miracles of bringing dead to life, curing the blind and lepers and telling the unseen. The following text is from Quran.
“..When the angels said, “O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary – distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ]. He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous. She said, “My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?” [The angel] said, “Such is Allah ; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He onlysays to it, ‘Be,’ and it is. And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel. And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], ‘Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah . And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead – by permission of Allah . And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers. And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me. Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path.” – The Holy Quran 3:45-51
May the light of truth guide us. May the coming year bring us peace and prosperity. May happiness prevail and sorrows disappear for the whole world. Ameen!
